Not all stories will be of long past history. As the book is being written a world altitude record attempt will be made with a sail plane largely fabricated in Oceano by Ken Briegleb and flown by Steve Fossett.

The National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA) has provided pressurized suits to meet the demands of high-altitude flight. The Perlan Project is scheduled to make the record attempt in June 2002 in New Zealand.
