The Central Coast History Foundation’s first project is a book that will explore local pioneers and their achievements. The working title is “The Achievers”, subtitled “A Century of Central Coast Innovation”. As pioneers in the emerging forms of mechanical, aeronautical and electrical engineering, these ground breaking problem-solvers initiated many products now in common use. These men and women were often not theoreticians or laboratory scientists, but hands-on, learn-by-doing types who designed, built and tested their own creations. Some of these accounts are tales of adventure and derring-do as well as applied engineering. Over to the right there are links to categories that contain some of the events that will be outlined in the publication. |
